Kitespot Description
Wind Direction:S, SW
Best months:
All year round
Conditions:
This is Cape Towns kite spot in summer on a SW or Southerly with its wide open beaches and warm water. The SW is consistent and blows slightly onshore. Swells are generally small most of the time, but can pick up at times. You will find a lot of surfers in the water. Heads Up - When the SW blows, head for the Strand.
SE: Very gusty possibly due to the mountain range, but further down the beach after the jetty, it tends to smooth out alot.
Please see photos of the kite zone area for kiting at the Strand.
Rigging Area:
Please note:There is a Designated kite area from Strand Life Saving Club to the fence. Nobody is allowed to kite past this marked area as it could result in kiting being banned at the Strand. Please ask at the kite club if you are not sure of this area.
Spot Amenities:
There is a car guard and Life guards. Ablutions are available.
